SEWING, TEXTILES & FASHION REDESIGN

ACTIVITY DATE: Monday, Feb 2, 2026

ACTIVITY DESCRIPTION
Did you know that the most sustainable fabric is the one that already exists? Join us in challenging the fast-fashion cycle by giving used clothing a second chance at life.

We will start by sourcing materials from a local thrift store, looking past the size or style to see the potential in the fabric. You will then learn the art of deconstruction—taking a garment apart to understand how it works—and then give it a whole new life. Whether you’ve never touched a sewing machine or you’re a stitching pro, you’ll learn the techniques needed to turn pre-loved clothing into a brand-new, functional item designed by you.

GROUP EQUIPMENT: The instructor will provide activity-specific equipment for the group. The group will be using the school’s sewing machines and equipment.

PERSONAL EQUIPMENT: Students do not need to wear school uniform on outtrips/outdoor days. Regular clothing and running shoes are great. They should dress for the weather and arrive with the following items in a small backpack (the student’s regular school backpack is perfect).
